We all know the stereotypes of women portrayed in TV. Unhealthy thin, always young and perfect. But the relatively new concern is focusing on unrealistic portrayed of women who can handle everything without any problems. So-called superwoman is loving mother who takes care of the whole household, successful businesswoman on high post and always beautiful and ready to seduce her husband. Superwomen make these demands around career, wife and parent seem so easy that real women watching a TV can have a serious depression. This issue is very important because this unrealistic message can influence all women who try to do their best but can never be like a TV superwomen because it is simply impossible. Another concern is connected to body image of women in media that can lead to eating disorders of young girls. It is important to be aware of fiction used in media when showing totally perfect women that are excellent in everything, otherwise it can very negatively influence girl’s body image, self identity and self perception as such.
The idea of perfect closes your mind to new standards.. When you drive hard toward one ideal, you miss opportunities and paths, not to mention hurting your confidence. Believe in your potential and then go out and explore it; don’t limit it.
